SCHULZE-GÄVERNITZ, gā′vẽr-nĭts, Gerhart von (1864—). A German economist, born in Breslau. He became professor at Freiburg in 1893, and at Heidelberg in 1896, and then returned to Freiburg. He wrote Zum sozialen Frieden (1890), Grossbetrieb (1892), Thomas Carlyles Welt- und Lebensanschauung (1893), Volkswirtschaftliche Studien aus Russland (1899), and other historical and critical studies.
